LEEO - Liste Extragalaktischer Einzel-Objekte
Die Beobachtung der Galaxien in unserer
kosmischen Nachbarschaft ermöglicht es uns, die Vielfalt der Himmelsobjekte,
welche wir von unserer Galaxie kennen, auch in anderen Galaxien zu entdecken.
Die visuelle Beobachtung von Kugelsternhaufen, Dunkelwolken, Offenen
Sternhaufen, HII-Regionen oder Supersternhaufen, sind ein reizvolles Betätigungsfeld.
An dieser Stelle soll nicht verschwiegen werden, dass die visuelle Beobachtung
dieser Einzelobjekte nur mit großem Teleskop möglich ist (von hellen
Kugelsternhaufen in der Andromedagalaxie und HII-Regionen in vielen
Messier-Galaxien einmal abgesehen). Die nachfolgende
Auflistung zeigt Objekte welche visuell zu beobachten sind und teilweise auch
von mir beobachtet wurden. Natürlich sind diese Objekte mit kleineren Geräten
und entsprechender fotografischer Ausrüstung ebenfalls nachzuweisen. Eine noch
weitaus größere Zahl von Objekten sind allein den Astrofotografen vorbehalten,
da die Helligkeiten die 19te Größenklasse schnell überschreiten und somit für
visuelle Beobachter im Allgemeinen nicht zu erfassen sind.
Die Tabelle zeigt (ohne Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit)
eine Auswahl extragalaktischer Objekte. Helle extragalaktische H
II-Regionen wie etwa NGC 604 in M 33 oder NGC 5447 in M 101, werden hier nicht
geführt. Vornehmlich sind all die Objekte berücksichtigt, welche eine
ausreichend hohe Deklination aufweisen und die Beobachtung durch Extinktion
nicht in hohem Maße gestört wird (M 83 ist ein Grenzfall). Ferner sind nur
Objekte deren Helligkeit in der Literatur angegeben wird, hier verzeichnet.
Objekthelligkeiten sind in v mag angegeben. Abweichende Bestimmungen in anderen
Wellenlängen sind in Klammerwerten zu sehen. Darüber hinaus sind, soweit
verfügbar, absolute Helligkeiten in V mag genannt.
Bei den Objekten ohne Nomenklatur handelt
es sich um Sternhaufen, bei denen ich in der Literatur keine spezielle
Bezeichnung oder Zuordnung finden konnte. Generell sind in unterschiedlichen
Quellen verschiedene Oberbegriffe der Objektklassen zu finden. Der Begriff
"Super Star Cluster" (SSC) hat keine 100%ige Definition. Es
gibt eine Einteilung nach absoluter Leuchtkraft und Alter (z.B. MV heller als
-10,5 mag). Die "Young Massive Cluster" (YMC) oder "Massive
Young Cluster" (MYC) sind in der Regel nicht ganz so leuchtkräftig wie
die SSC. Der Begriff "Scaled OB Association" (SOBA) ist
ebenfalls in der Literatur zu finden. Sie unterscheiden sich von den SSC durch
den fehlenden kompakten Kern und eine unregelmäßige Form. Einige der
Objekte werden in anderen Katalogen auch unter anderen Namen geführt
insbesondere, wenn sie Teil einer helleren H II-Region sind!
Ein Link auf das Originalpaper in der Spalte Position
führt zum Originalveröffentlichung mit Aufsuchkarte, da sonst keine
Koordinaten gegeben wurden.
Der Zusatz "ee" (eye-estimated)
weist auf eine geschätzte Helligkeit basierend auf den POSS Aufnahmen (J) hin.

Bei den Kugelsternhaufen in M 31 ist die
Untergrenze aufgrund der großen Objektzahl bei 17,0 mag v angesetzt. Hier
wurden nur Objekte aus der Arbeit von Sargent, W., Kowal,
C., Hartwick F., Van den Bergh, S.: Search for Globular Clusters in M 31; AJ 82,
947 - 953 (1977)
berücksichtigt. Ein weit umfangreichere Zusammenstellung ist 2MASS NIR
photometry for 693 candidate globular clusters in M31 and the
Revised Bologna Catalogue. Galleti S., Federici L., Bellazzini M., Fusi Pecci
F., Macrina S. , Astron. Astrophys. 416, 917 (2004) welcher unter http://vizier.u-strasbg.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-3
abzurufen ist. Eine weitere interessante Quelle für M 31-Kugelsternhaufen
von P. Barmby ist unter http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/~pbarmby/m31gc/m31gc.html
zu finden.
Generell sind viele der
hier gelisteten Daten auch unter http://vizier.u-strasbg.fr/viz-bin/VizieR
zu beziehen. Eine Suche in den Katalogen mit Suchbegriff "photometry"
und/ oder "globular cluster" Objekte liefert viele Ergebnisse. Objekte
die dort nicht zu finden sind, habe ich aus den unten aufgeführten Abhandlungen
entnommen. Daten, die bislang fehlen, werden in der nächsten Überarbeitung ergänzt.
Generell kann auch SIMBAD
- Aladin zur Objektsuche
genutzt werden. Der Import diverser Kataloge per overlay zur DSS-Aufnahme
erleichtert das Aufsuchen. Das Objekt kann auch per Koordinate (im oberen Teil
des Aladin-Programms im Display zu sehen) mit dem Tool "Tag" manuell
markiert werden.
Zur visuellen Beobachtung der Objekte sei
darauf hingewiesen, dass viele der aufgeführten Objekte Teil eines helleren
Bereiches wie etwa eines Spiralarms oder Emissionsgebietes sind und die
Beobachtbarkeit aufgrund des geringeren Kontrastes schwieriger ist als die
Helligkeitsangabe vermuten lässt! Generell gilt, dass die Beobachtung nur
mit hohen Vergrößerungen ab etwa 300-400fach möglich ist. Nur wenige
Einzelobjekte sind bei direkter Betrachtung zu sehen. Hier ist Geduld und etwas
Erfahrung im Umgang mit relativ schwachen Himmelsobjekten von Vorteil. Bei
vielen der unten gelisteten Sternhaufen und Emissionsobjekten dürfte eine
erfolgreiche visuelle Beobachtung bisher kaum oder gar nicht in der Amateurszene
dokumentiert worden sein. Hier bietet sich die Möglichkeit der Pionierarbeit!
